Patricia Urquiola, born in 1961.
Spanish by birth, she is living in Milan at present. Her works and her international renown come before her. She has worked for the greatest and international well-known firms such as: B&b Italia, Flos, Moroso, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bmw, Kartel, Bisazza, Alessi, Axor, Panasonic and many others. Lots of her works are shown among the permanent collections of Moma in New York and in other worldwide important museums.
Not least, her collaboration with Boffi Cucine that, on the occasion of its eightieth birthday of activity, it shows us Salinas, the first kitchen signed by Patricia Urquiola, which goes further the normal rules of design.
If you observe this kitchen carefully, you will be stricken by the accurate and original choice of the materials: metal with copper, aluminium, zinc and brass trimmings. The use of laquered paints and mixtures made of paper and recycled cartons.
As you can see, the containers hang under the worktops and are made on metal tubular frame cut in a square section, with the shutters in an aluminium frame, very far from the classical chip-made containers.
Furthermore, there are no wall units at all, replaced by shelves only. An original result, clean and essential, suitable for different houses, giving them that peculiar touch signed by Patricia Urquiola.
